Here is a contest for you! We are proud to announce that The Phoblographer is a Media Partner of the Sony World Photography Awards 2023. Many people scoff at the idea of ​​entering photography contests. But the Sony World Photography Awards have fascinated publishers, art buyers, curators, and more. We’ve featured several winners over the years, and we’ve spoken to a few people who got a career boost from it. Participation is free and open to anyone submitting a series of 5 to 10 images per category. There are ten categories that photographers can choose from. The big winner receives the title of photographer of the year. New this year: Photographer of the Year is recognized with a solo presentation of their work at the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition in London the following year. Open competition: rewarding the best individual images! Prizes include $5,000, Sony’s best digital imaging equipment and more. Entry is free and open to anyone submitting unique images taken in 2022. Photographers can choose from ten categories. The big winner receives the title of Open Photographer of the Year. The deadline is January 6, 2023 at 13:00 GMT. More information here

Student competition: provide a platform for photography students around the world. First prize is the best Sony digital imaging equipment and the winning university receives Sony digital imaging equipment worth €30,000. For this year’s student competition, we are asking participants to consider the theme In a Changing World. Our world is changing rapidly and we are looking for photographers who can show us positive stories of growth and progress. This could encompass a whole range of different topics; from the environment, to technology, to the way we work and live. In five to 10 images, describe how you, or someone you are documenting, are responding to changes around them. Entries must be submitted by 13:00 GMT on November 30, 2022. More information here

Youth competition: for passionate young photographers under the age of 19. The first prize is the best digital imaging equipment from Sony. Images submitted to the Sony World Photography Awards can be taken on any device, shot in any style – black and white or color – and approached from any angle that suits you best. Entry is free and open to photographers under the age of 19 submitting unique images taken in 2022. Photographers may submit up to three images related to the Your Everyday theme. For this year’s Youth contest, we’re asking photographers to show us their daily lives. What does your daily life look like? What people surround you? What scenes do you see – busy streets or idyllic landscapes? The big winner receives the title of young photographer of the year. The deadline for registration is January 6, 2023 at 13:00 (GMT).
