NSSF ‘Visions of Nigeria’ Photography Campaign Debuts in Lagos, Nigeria

According to Dr. Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko, Executive Director of NSSF, “The campaign will provide young people across the country with the opportunity to visually communicate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people, organizations and the country in as a whole, and how Nigerians are doing. ”

She added that the campaign will allow young people across the country to be part of a project that changes their lives while providing a means of empowerment and development for young people. Prizes to be won in this inaugural competition include cash to the tune of 6 million Naira, enrollment in paid internship programs and one-on-one mentoring sessions with selected industry leaders.

On what the campaign represents, the Director General further explained that the campaign would be an opportunity for young Nigerians to express their creativity through photography by framing their best shot and telling real life stories of real situations showing how the people learn to live. with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and how they are overcoming it. “Visions of Nigeria” paint a picture of hope for a new, safer, post-pandemic world. The photos will be positive and the messages will be clear and concise.

The competition is open to all young people with a cell phone or digital camera to capture memories or images that match the theme of the competition. Like all photography competitions, NSSF “Visions of Nigeria” seeks to precipitate and renew interest in photography. It will reward and celebrate the best photographers, based on their skills and talent, judged solely on their interpretation of the given theme.

The platform will also give visual artists the visibility they need to progress in their photography, as their submission to the competition will be massively shared both online and offline.

Participation is free and easy. Participants must register on the website www.wenaijaphotocontest.com and post their application. The rules governing the competition are clearly stated on the website and a dedicated contact line is available for any inquiries. Our goal is 10,000 amazing image entries from all over Nigeria.

The competition will last four weeks:

  • Opening of the submission of applications on Wednesday, December 1, 2021,
  • Voting opens for the 100 semi-finalists on Monday, December 13, 2021
  • All submissions, votes and the entire contest close on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at 11:59 p.m.

The 100 semi-finalists will win cash prizes of N50,000 each and have their works presented at the premium auction to be held in Lagos on January 19, 2022.

Our panel of award-winning judges will be on hand to select the top 5 finalists with the most unique works. These 5 finalists will earn additional cash prizes, be employed in paid internship programs and benefit from personalized mentoring sessions with selected industry leaders.

Dr Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko called on young people and youth groups interested in photography to use the campaign to get their names and form the crème de la crème of society.

Funds generated from this competition and other activities will be used to develop Nigerian youth and provide them with a platform to thrive.
