Midwest Bird Photography Contest, Capture the Moment, Open for Entries

Calling all bird enthusiasts. Registration is open for the Midwest Bird Photography Contest and Exhibit, titled Capturing the Moment.

The event is organized by the Mid West group of Birdlife WA and aims to increase bird and nature tourism in the region, raise awareness of the world of birds and showcase great photography.

Regional businesses have supported the competition with prizes such as a flight to the Abrolhos from Geraldton Air Charter, a station stay at Wooleen, a three-day outback holiday from Queen on the Murchison, framed artwork from Geraldton Framing Center and more.

Entry is free for the competition, which started on July 20 and ends on October 9.

There are seven categories: flight, bird behavior, images taken on a mobile device, portrait, youth (under 15) and portfolio – a story in four photographs. The last category, chosen by the public, will be awarded at the end of the exhibition.

Entrants may submit up to six submissions in each category and eight for the portfolio section.

An exhibition of framed, winning and recommended photographs will be held at the Greenough Museum and Gardens from December 10 to January 29, 2023.
