STEVENSVILLE – Celebrity photographer Jay Fleming has moved his photography studio from Annapolis to Kent Island.
Fleming’s new studio is located at 1415 Sonny Schulz Boulevard, Suite B, in Stevensville.
Regarding the new location, Fleming said he was happy to have found the space available and affordable.
Fleming’s second book, titled “Island Life”, has just been released.
His first book, “Working the Water” was released in 2016, on the theme of the boatmen of the Chesapeake Bay and the rapidly changing seafood industry.
Both books are replete with photographs that can be described as simply amazing and awe-inspiring, capturing an artistic take on life around Chesapeake Bay.
Most candid photographs will leave you stunned, wondering, “How the hell did he capture this image?” “
Fleming’s photographs include underwater scenes, portraits of laborers working in oyster-shelling houses, working boats at all hours of the day, and a full spectrum of life in the bay. Both books are sold, in hardback only, for $ 55.
Fleming grew up in the Arnold area across the Bay Bridge, the son of a former National Geographic photographer. He inherited his father’s old Nikon film camera at the age of 13, and a passion for Fleming began over the years that eventually grew into a career.
Some describe it by saying, “Jay’s talent is undeniable, his photography is not only beautiful but useful. … Jay considers himself extremely lucky to have found a livelihood that both satisfies his creativity and simultaneously supports his beliefs in environmental conservation.
Fleming is a graduate of Broadneck High School and St. Mary’s College of Maryland, located along the St. Mary’s River in St. Mary’s City (Maryland’s first capital), St. Mary’s County.
At only 34 years old, his career, however already very successful, seems to have just started. He has received numerous awards and has permanent exhibitions of his photographs at several locations on the east coast and a permanent exhibition in Annapolis.
