Citrus Hills Photography Club: Field trips keep photographers busy | Way of life

What an eventful and inspiring month September has been for the members of the Citrus Hills Photography Club. The first reunion of the new season was held at our new location at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church. The old and new members were finally able to meet.

Being Labor Day week, many of our members were not in attendance. however, those who attended were happy to meet our new member of the Advisory Board, Jack Twiggs, who brings a wealth of experience and ideas to the club.

Some technical difficulties meant that the superb slideshows that Bob Feldberg prepared from the field trips he led could only be shown on a computer screen. Nonetheless, members stopped to enjoy the footage.

The two field trips scheduled for September kept the members busy. The first was a visit to Rainbow Springs State Park to capture footage of the waterfalls. Thanks to the excellent instruction of Jack Twiggs, the members were able to practice and master the art of this fascinating subject.

The following week, the members traveled to Cedar Lakes Gardens and Woods in Williston for another great field trip. Once again, Jack Twiggs prepared and directed this event for us. The cooler weather made for a comfortable and fun trip. Members spent several hours wandering around, taking numerous photographs of plants, waterfalls, structures, insects and a few birds.

Far too early it was time to leave the gardens, but not the area. Reservations for a group lunch had been arranged by Jan Bailey at the Ivy House. The members exchanged experiences and ideas and then after a good meal some of the group indicated that they would return to the gardens to take more photos.

Jack Twiggs and Bob Feldberg, our trip coordinators, continue to plan exciting excursions as well as interesting overnight trips for our members for the months to come.

The Citrus Hills Photography Club meets at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 2540 West Norvell Bryant Highway, Lecanto on the second Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m.
