Family and Kids photo sessions

So… you decided to have your family photo session done and now you are looking for a photographer? Well, you may just have found one! Before you book your session, however, let’s make sure we really are a good match.

Firstly, I would recommend browsing through my Family and Kids gallery. Photographs are very important, they are the final products and the reason why you wanted your session in the first place. In a way, they are a confirmation of the fact that I know what I am doing. It’s a good start and if you like what you see, I want to assure you that there is more to it than just pictures. To me, the whole experience matters.

I will be honest with you, I am NOT one of those serious and formal photographers. I won’t be telling you what to do, I will guide you, I will help you but there will be no pressure.
Parents often worry how their children might behave. Sometimes, the first thing they do when they arrive at the studio, is apologising in advance for their kids’ behaviour. My response to it – „Just relax”. I have been photographing families for almost 8 years now and, believe me, there are not many things that could shock me.

We need to understand that all children are individuals. It’s a new situation for them, a new place and me, the stranger with the black box. Some of them become my friends right from the start but others need more time to feel comfortable and that is OK.
I will do my best to make sure you and your little ones feel at ease (sometimes that includes me jumping, pulling silly faces or making funny noises). If these are the qualities that you are looking for in a photographer, then it’s time to book your session.

About the session
Family and Kids photo sessions take place in my Barnsley studio, but we are not limited to it. If you’d rather have your session done at your house or outdoors, just let me know.
A session lasts approximately 1-1.5h. I tend to start with the family group shots first and then take some individual photos of each of you and yes, I mean everyone will have their individual photos taken, including you Mum. I am sure you will find hundreds of excuses not to do it, but trust me, you won’t regret it. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t had a chance to see your hairdresser before the session or if you don’t have any makeup on… to your children you are the most beautiful person in the world and I will make sure they have photos of you.

What to wear?
Firstly, think of the style of the clothes that you want to wear… smart, casual, sporty, edgy, etc. I recommend going for two different outfits. For example, you can arrive wearing your smart outfit first and then during the session you can change into something more casual. It’s up to. The only suggestion that I have is to avoid wearing bright colors and large prints as these could turn out distractive on photographs.

What to bring?
Feel free to bring any props you like. For instance, if you play a guitar, bring it in or if your little one is into karate, let them bring the full kit or their favourite toys. It’s about you. It’s about who you are, so anything that represents you, is welcome.
